Simon Lim and Tan Yu Qing

Simon Lim:

Let me tell you a story….

About 50 years ago in my kindergarten days, there wasn't much entertainment unlike nowadays with smart devices like tablets and handphones.

Few years later when I entered Seng Poh Govt Primary School, my eyes were opened to a new world of entertainment. I see groups of people playing assorted games.

I met new friends along the way and they taught me how to play these games. There were marbles (goli), chapteh, kuti kuti etc..

All the games were fun and my favourite was marbles (goli). The objective is to use the marbles (goli) to hit the other marbles (goli) in a drawn circle, usually on sand.

The games train me to be more patient. To practise and get better in games and improve my accuracy and precision in games.

Tan Yu Qing:

Patience was something that stuck with me. Time flies, and I entered University studying a course that is new to me, Accountancy.

It was hard for me to adapt into the new environment. I was struggling to keep up and felt like I was always left behind.

One day, while sitting down alone and reflecting about my struggles, the old times of playing with my friends struck me. I recalled how I improved on the game of goli with my determination and patience.

I told myself that with the same determination and patience, I will be able to get through this obstacle.

With this mindset, I caught up and learnt to adapt in the new environment.
