Choo Wye Foo and Prajwala

Choo Wye Foo:

It all began with PAP Kreta Ayer Branch under the leadership of Mr. Goh Keng Swee.

I got to know my wife, my life partner, at Kreta Ayer. We married in 1963 and had 3 children.

With little formal education, the PAP leaders gave me lots of opportunities to develop my life skills, leadership skills, and provided exposure to political scenes.

I am Tanjong Pagar. I live, contribute, volunteer, and bring up my family here.

I am a happy retiree now. I look forward to the family celebrations, sumptuous food daily, and the company of family and neighbourhood friends.

Prajwala:

I am Prajwala and I was born on 29 December 1992 in the year of the Monkey. I grew up in Clementi. My dad is an engineer and my mum is a homemaker. Here is a timeless image of my grandparents playing with me when I was just over 1 year old.

My very first school was Clementi Woods Kindergarten. This is a photograph taken at our Sports Day in K2. I studied in Qifa Primary School, Raffles Girls’ School (Secondary), and Raffles Institution (Junior College). I am grateful to all of my school and teachers for providing me with 12 years of excellent and holistic education.

It was always my dream to become a doctor to help those in need. I was very happy to be given the opportunity to study at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. The five years that I spent in Medical School were life-changing! The quote that inspired me most as a medical student was: “Not Pride of Knowledge, but Humility of Wisdom”.

(L): Captured at Harvard Medical School (Boston, USA) during an attachment programme with my medical classmates.
(R): At my graduation ceremony in 2016.

I am now in the midst of my training at National Healthcare Group in the department of General Surgery. In future, I hope to become a surgeon who can serve and care for my patients well. As a volunteer with the Breast Cancer Foundation since 2009, I believe in advocating for breast cancer awareness for women and their families.

Life is meaningful in the service of others. I want to give back to my society in as many ways as I can. Years down the road, I wish to be remembered as someone with kindness and compassion!
